Dear Friend of St. Camillus,

Thank you for your past support thru prayers, participation, and donations.

The Chaplains who provide daily service for those who are sick, often alone and dying are only able to share this ministry with the support of good and caring people like you!

Recently my emergency room pager called me to a family where a 50+ year old man, “Miguel” was dead after having experienced a heart attack. His wife and mother were in the room along with his adult son who was “celebrating” his birthday.

I walked into the room with the Social Worker. The son was smelling of alcohol yet wanted us to pray with him. In Spanish and English, we prayed the prayers of the dead and ended with invitation for each family member to come and bless the person Miguel and speak what is on their heart.

When the son came up, his first words were in Spanish … words of love affection … then in English he shared a message that I will not repeat … but I will share that he spoke of how he had disappointed his father.Sadly, the father was addicted to meth and his son felt he failed in trying to help his father overcome his addiction.

Then, after a painful moment of silence, we heard the son express his pain, sorrow and anger that his dad died on his birthday. He regretted that he could not enjoy “steak and drinks together on my birthday.”

This is just one of the hundreds of stories the Chaplains of

St. Camillus Center for Spiritual Care experience every day of the week

with an average cost per hospital visit of just $45.

The comfort we provide to the many families we serve is only possible with the continued and renewed support of good people like you.Thank you and bless you for continuing to support this vital ministry.
